Fond du Lac, WI - Downtown Fond du Lac hosts an old-fashioned return to holiday warmth and cheer at Home for the Holidays all day Saturday, December 3.
The day starts with Breakfast with Santa at the Ramada Plaza Hotel. Breakfast will be served from 8:30 a.m. through 10:30 a.m. Kids can talk with Santa and Mrs. Claus, have their photos taken and enjoy a wonderful breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage links, French toast sticks, hash rounds, applesauce, donut holes, juice, and cookies. Cost: $7 for children (3-7), $9 for adults (inclusive of tax and service charge); children under 3 are free with a paid adult. Space is limited. Call the Ramada for reservations, (920) 923-3000.
From noon to 3 p.m., Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit the kids at the Children’s Museum of Fond du Lac (51 Sheboygan Street). Kids can chat with Santa and Mrs. Claus and get their photos taken.
New this year to the event is the Downtown Winter Market. Some of your favorite regular season farmer’s market vendors will be downtown with a great selection of jams, baked goods, candies, chocolates, popcorn, meats and much more! The market will be located in Main Street Plaza (corner of Sheboygan St. & Main St.).
Feeling chili? Come to downtown for the Chili Crawl from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. For just $10, “crawlers” can taste 12 different concoctions. To start the crawl, come to MidTown Pub located inside the Ramada Plaza Hotel, 1 N. Main St., to purchase a ticket. From there, stop at the 12 Chili spots and taste an array of amazing chili recipes. The last stop on the crawl is Hopper’s Silk Screening and All Star Trophy, where stamped tickets can be redeemed for an “I Survived the Downtown Chili Crawl” T-shirt. Vote for your favorite chili; the winners will receive naming rights to next year’s crawl and a year’s worth of bragging rights.
During the day, shop and visit businesses downtown while enjoying free horse-drawn carriage rides, courtesy of Whisper Hills Clydesdales from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The day finishes up with the KFIZ Holiday Parade at 4:15 p.m. and the lighting of Santa’s Tree in Veteran’s Park. Carolers will be present at the park by 3:30 p.m. entertaining the crowd while they await Santa’s yuletide greeting.
